RE: [Bluecard] [Germany] Job change: Health insurance + social contributio

Toggle
Hello

I'm a bluecard holder since January 2018
I decided to change jobs, already found a new job, got permission from auslanderbehorde and signed contract to start working with the new company.
The thing is, I will take a 3 weeks break between my current job ending date and the new job starting date.
I'd read somewhere that if this happens I need to pay for my insurance.
I'm also interested in settling with the permanent residence permit once I've stayed here the required time
I will not apply for unemployment
Given this context, do I need to pay for my health insurance and/or pension  and social contributions during this time ? Both or them  ? Where could I find information about this ?

Thanks !!

From the last day of your existing employer, you are allowed to use existing insurance for 4 weeks. This is in law and you can google it. Since you start after 3 weeks, you do not need to pay to the insruance company. Just ensure the paper work (financial) work is complete without any delays.

Good luck and keep the forum posted how it went as soon as you have got new salary...
