Rentenversicherungspflicht wegen Kindererziehung

Hello Everybody:
We are blessed with a newborn kid, and my wife has received a letter from Deutsche Renteversicherung about the Pension Obligation Due to Child Fostering (Rentenversicherungspflicht wegen Kindererziehung). I am wondering if anybody knows about what one should do in this case. FYI, my wife is not working but has worked only for three months in 2008. That is how she got enrolled into German Pension system. Thank you.
