Re: Daueraufenthalt EG
The requirements for a settlement permit and “Daueraufenthaltserlaubnis-EG” are similar in many respects. The major difference is to have “stable and regular” income.

Re: Daueraufenthalt EG
While the regular NE as well as the D-EG require continuous stay in Germany for 5 years, the NE under highly qualified category does not require 5 years stay. In this situation, how does one convince the beamter to issue a D-EG instead of NE?
Another question: If the stipulated last 5 years are composed of stay in two EU member states as follows: 3 years in Germany, 2 years in Austria (with residence permit from Austria) followed by 3 years in Germany, is one eligible for D-EG, as the stay within "EU" was continuous?

Re: Daueraufenthalt EG
Hi Merlin,
you cannot get D-EG automatically from a NE §19 AufenthG (high skilled). You need to work 5 years for the former and you must have a work contract which will not terminate or is terminated during the application process, no matter if you have a NE or not. As mentioned, you don't require 5 years to get NE §19 AufenthG.
You cannot accumulate the residences to get a D-EG. 5 years must be swept in one country.

Thanks for your reply klenze17. In the mean time this point was discussed in info4alien reaching a similar opinion(conclusion?).

Re: Daueraufenthalt EG
Why NE instead of DE-EG after 5 years stay in Germany?
As per my understanding
DE-EG does not require German Language skill and gives freedom to work in other EU countries.
Perhaps it has no salary restrictions as in NE(>63K) (true?) of course it needs good educational background and experience
on the other hand
NE needs German as Language requirement(except 63k+ salary) and permits to work in Germany only.
Then why not DE-EG after 5 years. why NE?
Is DE-EG approval rate less than NE ?
Which body of bund approves DE-EG ?(EU or (bundesagnetur for Arbeit & Auslanderbehörde like NE?))

Not always. There are cases where the officials asked the applicants to prove it. Search the forums.

DE-EG does not require salary condition like NE$19 but requires integration skills. Search the forums.
NE needs German as Language requirement(except 63k+ salary) and permits to work in Germany only.
NE$9 requires some basic language skills, but NE$19 doesn't.
Then why not DE-EG after 5 years. why NE?
DE-EG requires additional integration skills, which is therefore difficult to get. Search the forums.
Is DE-EG approval rate less than NE ?
Yes.

Ausländerbehörde.
