Got Deutsch Citizenship

Hello All,

On last Friday I got German citizenship. It took exactly 5 weeks after submitting my application with all the required papers.

I have been living in Germany for almost 7 years - 4.5 years for study, 2.5 years with job.

best regards

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

Hi MK ,

Congrats!!!
I reside in Frankfurt and I have decided to submit the citizenship application for me and my wife and child through the Lawyers of VPMK office .

I have an opposit impression than MK had , which is very complex lets say . Either because I submitted it through lawyers or because of the complexity of current dual citizenshp of my wife or the subjectivity of Reviewal process .

They Certificate of finishing Integration course of my wife was not enough , they asked for additional bescheinigung that she speecifically attended an Integration course !!

Plus , they did not recognize a marriage certificate translated and notorized from the German Embassy in my home country 7 years ago .

and they asked for notorized copies of passports .
etc, etc ..

Regards

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if it is possible to retain the old citizenship (like US) and still get German Citizenship? I read the law but it seems quite vague. Any tips on how to get the German government to accept dual citizenship? It seems that they accept it if you would have a hardship by doing so. Anyone got good examples of "hardships"? Is it even possible when one has a citizenship from one of the "sogenannte Industrielaender"? Would an immigration lawyer be able to pull this off?

Btw- spouse is German (married 9 years) and I have been here for 4+ years this time and spent 4+ years previously (2.5 years in between outside Germany but inside the EU).

Thanks
Rhody

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

@mustaq

you do not need to do anything to abandon your current citizenship. Once the Einbürberungsamt is done with checking all the issues, you will be given a letter to get DE citizenship. When you go there to get your DE citizenship, you have to sign a paper stating that you are giving your current citizenship up and taking DE citizenship. Then you have to hand your current passport over to the Einbürgerungsamt. At that point your are done!

Einbürgerungsamt will send the passport and your decleration paper to indian authority. You do not need to do anything here. All the issues will be taken care of by the Einbürgerungsamt!

Cheers and Eid Mubarak to all!
