Got Deutsch Citizenship

Hello All,

On last Friday I got German citizenship. It took exactly 5 weeks after submitting my application with all the required papers.

I have been living in Germany for almost 7 years - 4.5 years for study, 2.5 years with job.

best regards

@MK
Hi, congrats.
One question: I thought one of the requirements is to have 60 months of Rente paid if someone wants to get DE.
Did you pay 60 months? Did they ask for it?

Also, anyone from NRW who got Deutsch Citizenship?

@mailsuzi
thanks!

for getting citizenship you do not need to pay any rente. the official will never ask any rente papers if you want to get citizenship.

My opinion :
the German citizenship officials want that the foreigners with good job and good profession become citizen easily. It is beneficial for the government because we will normally never think of getting Sozial Hilfe as done by normal foreigners (e.g. asylum seekers).

@xadnan: danke bruder!
Viel Spaß!

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

i think the officials would not be that satisfied seeing you arbeitslos during your application. it will reduce your chance of getting approval.

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

@mk,

thanks for your reply. I am totally confused. If you read the law, it says we need 60 months rente.

Also, you said you are from south asia. Does it not take time to give back old citizenship? How long did it take for you. If you dont mind, which was your previous citizenship?

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

@mailsuji

in Einbüerungsgesetzs there is no requirement of Rente. So you can forget about rente issue for Citizenship.

Giving the old citizenship up is not your work, this is the work of German citizenship office. you do not need to care for this time. what you should care is the time, the citizenship office needs to decide.

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

@mk,
First congratulations for your successful and MARATHON result.

But, you would wonder that since June, its still pending for a Zusicherung in Hessen.

I just called today and was told that the Amts-Prüfung is finished and the person will do the Prüfung. And, due to 70-pending cases ahead, there cannot be given anything like 5-6 week time.

One thing is clear, there will be nothing sent in this year.

Gruss,

A.T

Re: Got Deutsch Citizenship

Congrats MK. Wishing you all the best with the new European citizenship.

Since I am completing 8 years(2yrs study, 6 years in Job) in Feb, I have also started thinking about the possible pros and cons of holding a German citizenship.

Since with the introduction of the new OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) option for people of Indian origin, the option of having a German Passport (GP) looks more advantageous.

Is there anyone with experience in Bayern?
3-5 weeks time sounds promising, but I feel it is more dependent on the Einburgeramt officials.

It there any overseas Indians with GP and OCI card? Please throw some light on the pros and cons of the same.

Regards
Chandra
