Which model/brand used car is good to buy, experienced views

Hi All..

All those who have been using cars for long, I have a small question:

On your opinion, which brand/model is a good car to buy, for a first timer. The consideratons for me are following:

1. Price range: I can buy within the range of 4-6k EUR, A diesel may be
2. Probably not more than 80k-100k km service run already on the mileage meter.
3. Very low fuel/maintanace cost. Quite reliable.
4. Any other critereas on your mind , as part of an efficient car?

untill and unless you drive more than 20000Kms in a year, diesel is not worth. And next time do start a new thread instead of hijacking someone else's thread as it is considered rude.
