Verification of first name of child born in Germany

My wife and I are German passport holders - of Indian origin holding OCI. Last month our child is born. Standesamt in our city is not aware of the first name we gave to gave to our child and, therefore, has asked us to get clarification from Indian Embassy/Consulate or from Gesellschaft für Namenkunde in Leipzig to make sure that this is a male name & only then birth certificate will be issued. Did someone experience this? Whom should i approach? We need the birth certificate soon for other things. Thanks.
