family insurance for spouse getting stipend

Dear All,

I am insured by techniker krankenkasse since 2006. My wife is also working and she is also insured by TK and has to pay for her own insurance. She is in scientific research and got a new job where she will be receiving stipend rather then salary.

As per my wife's contract, her income as Stipend is tax-free. Tax free income is a rule not an income. I asked TK that i want to cover her under my family insurance, but telephonically they replied that if the income is above 400 euro, she has to pay for her own insurance.

I searched on internet & found some blogs where someone in my situation comment that he is not paying for her wife's insurance who is earning sitpend. but i do not have any concrete proof to convince TK.

Has someone any information which could help me to save some insurance money?
