When I Change Lohnsteur class, should I pay......

Dear friends

I have a doubt. I have NE.

My wife left Germany on June'06. She may come on Dec'06. If she comes, I have NO problem (Because, still my Lohnsteur class is '3').

The doubt is,

If she won't come here on December,

i)I have to change my class. right? ( because, I can't extend my class 3, more than 6 months).

ii)So, when I go the Govt.office, will they ask me to pay back the past 6 months tax amount, which I benefitted with the class '3' ?

iii)Your suggestions

Please advise me
