Tax card question
Hello all,
My wife joined me recently and has got a job. Her salary is close to mine. I have heard there is a new combination coming in 2010 for IV/IV with a factor. Can someone throw some light on this Factor method as mentioned here in this article?

when did you start working in Germany?
When did your wife join you and when did she start working?

thanks for your reply. Regarding the questions:
when did you start working in Germany?
I started working in 2007 and I have an Erwerbstätigkeit Gestattet(EG).
When did your wife join you and when did she start working?
My wife joined me just 2 months back on a dependent visa and she also got EG based on my visa. She will start working from next week and she has never worked before in Germany.

Hi,
Here you can estimate your Tax-Class.
class I = single
class II = single parent
class III = married and and spouse has no income or lower income
class IV = married and similar income to spouse
class V = opposite of class III, ie this is the class your lower earning spouse has if you have III
class VI= for a second job.

I also tried to call a lawyer to find about this issue and I have no answer from him, so I left him a message.

This will also consider that when both of your income levels are similar or eqal!

Hi Akil,
I contacted accountant in my office and also did some calculations online and IV/IV turned out to be a good option for both of us since we have similar levels of income. The only concern would be to find which Factor we fall in. I will update this link when I have information,
