Self employed visa change to student visa possible?

Hello,

I am latin american and I have been granted a German visa for the purpose of self employment, to start my own business, with the support of some companies in my home country.

Lately I started having lots of problems with my partners, and want to know what options do I have if I shut down my business, since continuing activities without their support would be and extreme risk, financially speaking, but my visa is attached to my current business.

In case of further complications, I have been considering the options of finding another job (in case I'm allowed to. Would it be legal for me to search?), or even going back to school to get a Masters degree or Ph.D. in Germany, but would like to avoid going back to my home country to apply for a new visa if possible.

I am also exploring the option of going back, which given the fact that I have spent so much money in stuff I won't be able to sell/bring along with me, would be extremely expensive, but want to keep myself open to all the possibilities.

Could anyone please offer some advice?

Thank you very much in advance!
Carlos
