How to get Work-permit by ourselves ?

Hi,

I got a Job. But my employer asks me to get my Work-permit by myself. How can I do this ??

If I have the Job contract, then where should I go to get Work-permit ? What should I do for it ?

It would be nice if some one can explain me this.

Thanking you,

Re: How to get Work-permit by ourselves ?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. But till now I have a student visa. In the thread you gave me, he has already work permit before.

Can you tell me which "form" I have to pick up at the Arbeitsamt ?
It would be nice if you can give the German name of this "form".

Also, is there any specific Arbeitsamt in Berlin for this purpose ?
Because, I am staying in Berlin and I think there may be more than one Arbeitsamt.

Thanking you,

Re: How to get Work-permit by ourselves ?

You're in berlin? Hope to see you there, as I'm moving there next week.

The best is to apply in the Arbeitsamt in the zone where your company is, for me for example, the company is located in Berlin Kreuzberg so I apply to the one of Berlin Mitte. But man, they're so lousy: I made the application 3 weeks ago and I phoned this morning to know what happened to it and they told me "euh, we don't know, can you come over by yourself?". I will have to go there in person next Wednesday.

Just to get and tell them "I need to apply for a Arbeitserlaubniss", they will send you to the people who are relevant to that and you can then ask them the form.

They will give you an "Antrag auf Arbeitsgenehmigung", that's the form your company has to fill.

Re: How to get Work-permit by ourselves ?

Re: How to get Work-permit by ourselves ?

Hi,

Thank you very much for giving the name of the "form".
I have another problem. As I finished my Masters I will be Ex-matriculated on 1 September 2004. But it will take some time for these people to make contract. So I am afraid that, when I go for extending my Visa in September, they will say that you are staying illegally. But I have my Visa till 17 November 2004.

Also I tried to get appointment from Ausländersbehörde for extending my Visa. But they did not reply my email. Can I go directly without any appointment ?? In the website they wrote that the dates are full for 6 weeks. I don´t know what to do now.

Thanking you very much for your replies,

see you in Berlin,
