Green Card -> Permanent Residency

Hello Everybody!

I was wondering if anybody out there knows the status of the German Government's decision to convert the status of the Green Card holders to Permanant Residents ... i heard on the grapevine that the stipulated duration of 5 years was cut down to 3 and after completion of 3 years you could apply for a PR ... anybody know some concrete information on this issue?

Wishing you all a Merry Xmas and a Eventful New Year,
Hari

you can allways aply for PR,
but you can get it only after 5 years if you are not HQ.

Re: Green Card -> Permanent Residency

If you earn more than 90000 Euro / Year you get PR immediately after 1.1.05.

I think its time to put the "Green-Card-Visa-Permanent-Residency FAQ" section on this website. Perhaps we could write down something together after Xmas.

Re: Green Card -> Permanent Residency

Actually, what we need is a Wiki.

The same goes for the thread where only links are supposed to be posted, since there are basically too many threads with repeated information.

Some links on Wikis:

What is a Wiki? (http://wiki.org/wiki.cgi?WhatIsWiki)
Wikipedia (http://de.wikipedia.org)

The challenge is to keep the Wiki and the threads coordinated.

Re: Green Card -> Permanent Residency

Hello ,

I have asked the 'Ausländerbehörde' here (somewhere close to Munich) about the situation with my Visa after I finish the five years period which should be in 2006 and she said that I will get then permanent residence permit (Niderlassungsurlaubnis).

So I did not ask her from where did she find this information but at least she confirmed that I will get it (hopefully) , I hopr this will help a littel bit, Merry Christmas to you all.

Cheers,
