Sevgili Klenze17,
Here is the law which clearly states that the GC application should be processed within a week.

http://www.aufenth...titel.de/it_argv.html

Re: duration to get GC

Satish!

My preliminary GC was applied by the firm on 10th and aprroved on 19th. so probably two weeks is what it would be.

When the firm receives it, ask them to send you the origional contract and this approval notice to you by express email.

Then you can check with the embassy to find out what other paperwork is needed. Apart from forms and photos etc, you will need mandatory medical insurance so dont forget that.

The embassy might take between couple of days to six weeks (as in my case) to stamp the passport.

Best of luck

In my case, it has been about 2.5 weeks since
the company has applied for Zusicherung der
Arbeitserlaubnis. This contradicts with the
IT-ArGV $9 Durchführungsvorschriften.
There is nothing else to do, other than waiting
for the papers. It seems companies cannot
directly ask the Arbeitsamt to speed up the
procedure.

Selam Lacrima, do I need to have medical
insurance for visa application? Some turkish
friends of mine didn't say that. If yes,
what kind of medical insurance is needed?

The people at the Embassy didn't say anything
like that to me. They said I just need to
take Zusicherung, application forms, photos,
approved copy of the diploma and nothing else.

The Embassy told me, that it will take about
2-3 days to get the visa. Your case is very
funny...

Well, I didnt need one. But the treatment may be different in different German Embassies.(even within Turkey,
I was applying in Izmir)
You will be covered by a compulsory state health insurance, when you start to work in Germany
which means your work-contract is also a guarantee for your health-insurance in Germany.
(They have here "SSK" like insurance system.. but it is not one state organization like
in Turkey.. there are more than one State-Health Insurance companies so dont be suprised
Gesetzliche Krankenkassen )

Also, check this web-page from one of my friends who is also a GC:
http://www.orkun.org/yesilkart/

This web-page is not updated recently but the info there still applies in most
of the cases. Also this web-page looks quite useful:
http://www.yesilkart.de

Good luck and let us know, how the process ends. Maybe we can meet up for a Beer
or two, when you arrive to Germany. Where are you gonna work ? I am in Stuttgart
area.
