Hi Shino,

In order to calculate your salary, You have to pinpoint your right BAT scale. BAT ( I-XII). If you are enrolled as a Phd student( BAT II a), you can expect around 3000€ (brutto) per month. BAT widely depends on your family status and no of children you possess.

Hi Shino,

Your employer will decide your BAT scale. It also depends on the degree you have and the job you possess. It is very hard to guess the scale . It also depends on your boss who will see how much money is left in his project. Some people prefer 2 full time BAT 5a people instead of one BAT IIa. But if you are joining as a Research Assitant( with a promotion) , it should be BAT IIa if you have graduated from a University in Germany or any accredited university
