Re: ALG ll after changing status of GC
Everybody can get Alg II if their residence permit is valid. It even does not matter whether they worked before or not.
In reality though officials in employment office most surely will try to persuade you that you have to bring some document from an immigration office where it will be written that your residence permit is valid. do not listen to them - it's their job to get all necessary documents that - presumably - would allow them to refuse your application for Alg II. Just tell them that you are sure that your residence permit is valid - if, of course, you are sure of that - and it's outside scope of their competence to judge about validity of your residence permit. if they refuse your application - file a claim and do not forget to write there that you apply for preliminary injunction as well - that would allow you to receive Alg II while your claim will be viewed.
