Visa for a duration of 6 months for my parents

Hello Everyone,

Can you please tell me if any one of you had invited your parents for more than 3 months( 6 months). We are suppose to get our second child and i am also suppose to have an operation. So we are in crisis of helping my first child and care my wife. I heard from one of my friend that he invited his mother for 3 months and just got extended. Is it true?

Please tell me if any one has already had the experience, especially from India?

Raj,

That is up to the mood of the person who is working your papers at your local Ausländerbehörde. It is possible to get an extension for the visa. But sometimes this is not the case.

I have invited my Mom here for 6months. But it is dependent on the Ministry of the state in which u r resident. I live in NRW and here it is possible to invite your parents for 6months and more for helping the family. In my case they issued the visa considering my wifes pregnancy. So try to explain your case in rathaus and try your luck.

pwehrli`s right, it might sometimes depend on the person working in the ausländerbehörde...
but normally it is not possible to get an extension of the visa. Your parents can stay for 3 months, an extension is only possible in case of an accident, illness etc...your parents are in hospital and aren`t able to leave the country.
IDEA: where do you get this information from? In NRW it is as difficult as in other bundesländer to get an extension...probably you simply had luck...

But just have a try! Maybe ...

My parents have come yesterday for a period of 6 months..

Needed documents are

1. Verplichtungserklärung (To be done at the local Rathaus or Aulandsbehörde, in my case have done it in Heidelberg Rathaus and they dont have any problem giving it for 6 months.)

2. Wohnraumbescheinigung (excuse my spellings) to be filled in by your Vermeiter and to be obtained from Rathaus.

3. Insurance for the whole period

4. Bankstatement of your parents for past 3 to 4 months

5. 2 Sets of Applicationform above mentioned with around 4 photographs each with white background.

Duly filled in and to be submitted in the consulate. If you observe, you dont need flight tickets while you submit the application forms.. You can book the tickets once you get the visa..

This process would take minimum 4 weeks.. assuming that you followup here in Germany..
