filing tax return

Dear trust7 mates,

It would be of great help if you could help me out in the following issue.

I worked as wiss.mitarbeiter in an university for the year 2007. salary scale is bat2a/2. I used to get arnd 1000 euros as netto,ca. 1500 euros brutto.

my question is, should i submit a tax return for the last year? is it mandatory?

what documents should i have in order to file the tax return?
