Einbürgerung: 6 or 7 or 8 Years
Hallo all experts,
I am in germany since September 2005.
2.5 Years as a Studen and till now almost 3 years as Employee. I have uneingeschränkt arbeitserlaubnis. So far I have paid 55 Rente(as i worked as HiWi in university during my study time).
after 5 months i will be going to apply for Niederlasungserlaubnis.
in September this year 2011 i will be 6 years in germany. I have read some where that as per new rules one can even get german citizenship in 6 years time. can some one please share his experience in this regard.
I have done german language course till level B1 and have passed Deutsch Test für Zuwanderer. I did not take part in OrientationsKurs. (I did my course not as part of integrationsprogram, i did it volenterily to improve my language skills).
Thanking in advance

the no of years depends on your status...for exg 3 year for people having german partner, 6 years for Asyl, 4 years for people from german speaking countries, 3 yrs for sportspersons or scientists who are extraordinary importance for the german government(have to be approved by a seperate dept)

@ Truster
You can get apply for citizenship after 6 years with NE §19. But it is painstaking and takes around 1-1.5 yrs. It is better to apply through normal channel with less paper work.
Good Luck

A follow question, if someone attends universty in germany and marries a german, they still need to take integration course.
I read vaguely somewhere that if one did university in a german uni, integration course is not necessary.
Could someone please comment on this, many thanks.
