Arbeitslosengeld

Hey
Do you guy know how exactly one gets entitled to german arbeitslosengeld as a non-german?
This is my situation:
I have been doing a PhD for the last 3 years. In about half a year I will finish the PhD. During this 3.5 years, I always had a TV-L contract with the University, and thus paying all those taxes. I am by the way 30, if the age matters. Non-EU citizen.
I will try to find a job right after PhD. But if I didn't, do you I get arbeitslosengeld?
Thanks

Re: Arbeitslosengeld

If you are doing your PhD as a student i.e. visa §16 than the answer is NO.

But if you did as as Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter i.e. visa § 18 than the answer is YES you are eligible for ALG.

Re: Arbeitslosengeld

You should try beacause you worked more than 12 months but sometimes there is problem if you have wrong visa. It was subject here in forum also.
Good luck
