Tax class 1 to 3
Hello to all,
I have married in Dec’08, and my wife joined me here in May’09.
From June’09 I have given tax card 3 in my company.
Questions:
1. I have applied for tax returns but I am not sure weather Finanzamt will consider tax calss3 for 2008 (because my wife was not in Germany).
2. Is it possible to claim now it self tax card 3 money from Jan’09 to May’09? Or should I wait till end of this year and have to apply in next year?
3. if its possible to apply in this year, where to apply in company or with Tax consultant in Finanzamt?

Finanzamt will consider tax class 3 for total 2009? or only consdiers from the month in which my wife came to Germany?

Tax returns are calculated annually. So even u are under tax class 1, you will be considered as tax class 3 for whole year.
Better consult some good tax consultant.

2) YES, Ask your HR dept.(Personal Chef) to recalculate your "Gehaltsabrechnung" from Jan 2009 according to tax class3, if they are denying they are lazy and dont want to do. Technically and legally it is possible.
