Steps to be a Freelancer
Hi ,
I would like to be a freelancer and have also a NE. Could you all please tell me what are the steps i should take up... example .. should i go to arbeitsamt etc to register my name ..

Back in them days (when I did it in 2006) it was:
a. write a business plan
b. get it checked and stamped by a financial advisor
c. go the finanzamt, register yourself
d. go to arbeitsamt, show them your registration and your business plan
e. make an application for Überbrückungsgeld at arbeitsamt
f. start working
g. wait for the Überbrückungsgeld
h. wait for your Ust-Id from Finanzamt
So as e. doesn't exist anymore since September 2006, I think you only need to do c., f. and h.
But if you want to go freelancer, you have to be *VERY* carefull and really weight up your decisions, it ain't that easy and don't let people who tell you that you will make big money like that fool you.
