Indian Marriage and German Citizenship

Hello All,

I am an Indian living in Germany. I am soon going to marry my girlfriend who is also an Indian living in Germany for last 9 years. She is in the process of applying for German Citizenship. However, we would like to know if it is better for her to apply for German citizenship after marriage or before marriage?

We would like to get married in India. Does acquiring german citizenship before the marriage lead to complications w.r.t recognition of that marriage here in Germany?

Any pointers in this direction would be highly appreciated.
