Distance learning in Europe

hi @,
This topic has been discussed previously by some members here and some had suggested the open university in UK.
I would like to know if there are other such programs which can be done frm home and also the degrees are recognised. The courses can be both undergraduate/Graduate. The problem with Opn university is the cost ... its in Pounds ... is there some thing similar which can be done from US/Germany ...langauage medium-English.
