citizenship and elterngeld
I am on arbeitlosgeld since last 10 months. It ends in May. My wife is expected to deliver a baby next month. The elterngeld lady has to told me that I am not allowed to work in case I claim the elterngeld.
If I take the elterngeld starting June will I be able to apply for NE or for citizenship.

I don't think so, but what other choices do you have?

You mean I would never be able to apply for NE or citizenship. Or it is still possible to get either of these after the elterngeld finishes.

I think it'll be quite difficult if not impossible to get any permanent status in Germany without a job or proof that your living and that of your wife is financially secured.

Suppose I get one job after the elterngeld finishes in a year, then do you think still it is difficult.
Is there any way by which the AGL-I can be prolonged for six months or so.

I suggest you change your priorities if you plan to stay in Germany any longer.
Without a job, authorities won't be extending your residence permit the next time it expires and all of a sudden you'll find yourself back in your homeland...
