TK: 269 Euros ?

TK: 269 Euros ?
Hi,
As our laboratory is making a new working contract from February, I needed to go to Ausländerbehörde for extending my Visa and getting work-permit. Arbeitsamt needs 3 weeks time to check if there is any German for the job. So, now I don´t have any work in January. Naturally, TK sent a letter changing the status. They ask me to pay 269 Euros per month (233 + 35 for Pflegeversicherung) till I get a working contract. Is this the least amount ? They consider me as Selbständig even though I don´t have any job in this month. I didn´t go to Arbeitsamt for Arbeitlosengeld as I worked only for 1 year and it was half-time job.
What can be the advantages and disadvantages of going to Arbeitsamt and registering as Arbeitlos? And is there any other category under which I can pay less than 269 Euros per month to TK?
Thanking you,
Nagananda Krishna

@Nagananda Krishna,
do you have written evidence stating that you will be hired in February again? If yes, did you have chance to show that letter to Techniker Krankenkasse?

This money is not his salary
it is the monthly fee paid to the health insurance, TK (Techniker Krankenkasse). You can do reverse engineering in German websites, from this monthly fee, to get the idea in which range the corresponding salary is.
Nagananda, have you talked to TK?

"What can be the advantages and disadvantages of going to Arbeitsamt and registering as Arbeitlos?"
As far as know, it does not matter is you are going to receive Arbeitlosengeld or not, you MUST go to AA to inform about your unemployed status. In other case you can face (serious) problems.
Best regards,
Alex
PS: 269 Euros is expensive if you are single (no children). But problably you can do nothing now since we are already in half January.

Re: TK: 269 Euros ?
Hi,
Thank you very much for your replies.
@klenze17
Yes, I have written evidence that I will be hired from February (Arbeitsamt should give work-permit). But what can I do with this evidence after showing it to TK ?
I am single, no children. My salary is also not big. I have worked as a half-time job. But TK says that 269 Euros is the least amount that I can pay since I am not student and come under Selbständig.
@alex
TK said if they do something wrong or my status is changed they will repay the money to me. So, I can still change it even though January is half finished.
And at present I have only a Fictionsbescheinigung given by Ausländerbehörde till Arbeitsamt gives reply. About Arbeitsamt, they already have my Antrag for Arbeitserlaubnis and they are waiting if any German is available for this job. So, can I still go and say to them that I am Arbeitlos ? Actually I applied for work-permit on December 19th. And they are processing it now and say they need 3 weeks. TK already took 269 Euros for December and ready to take again for January and till I sign the working contract. It is like I am paying rent for a second flat also.

Hi,
"TK said if they do something wrong or my status is changed they will repay the money to me."
Well, that is what I meant that you couldn't do anything. Each running month must be paid by you, unless you cancel your Health Insurance
with them. So, you have to adjust to their prices.
I'm not sure if you can cancel it and go to other cheaper, or stay without it until you get your job (under your own risk).

Re: TK: 269 Euros ?
Hi,
@Nagananda
If you worked for one year you should be eligible for Arbeitslosengeld. The fact that you only had a half-time job does not make any difference.
If you get registered to AA and receive Arbeitslosengeld, they will also pay the Krakenversicherung for you!! Therefore you MUST go to AA and get registered!
In the worst case scenario, when you don't receive Arbeitslosengeld from AA, there is still a change to reduce the TK contribution to arround 130 Euro/month!
If you need more help, post your e-mail address and I'll get in touch with you!!

Re: TK: 269 Euros ?
Hi wizard,
thank you very much for your reply. Can you tell me how to register in Arbeitsamt for Arbeitlosengeld ? I have never done it before. Which form do I need to ask for and fill in ? Can I register also for December now in January ? Because since December the process for Arbeitserlaubnis is going on. They say that they still need 2 weeks time for it. Auslanderbehorde gave next termine for me in March because of Arbeitsamt. So, in December, January, February I don't have work. My email address is naganand17@yahoo.com
Thanking you,

Re: TK: 269 Euros ?
There's a first time for everything including unemployment benefit!
The important thing is to go to AA and tell them your situation (the sooner the better!!).
What will follow should be a standard procedure considering the 4.7 Mil Arbeitslosen.

Re: TK: 269 Euros ?
Hi,
And when I have the job in February, should I go to Arbeitsamt again and tell them that I have job and cancel the Arbeitlos registration or is this done automatic ?
May I know what documents I need to take with me while registering as Arbeitlos ?
Thanking you,
Nagananda
