car Insurace in germany

Hello Trust7 members

I need help about car insurance in germany.I got german driving licence in oct 2010.Right now i dont have car.But i want to bring my gf's car (registerd and insured on her name in lithuania) from lithuania by road.
I have following questions
1.Can i drive car from Lithuania to germany without having insurance on my name (she will travel with me).? or is it possible to insure before hand on my name for short time (ex 3 months) in germany so that i can drive car

2.If she changes to european insurance policy (green card)which is cheaper in Lithuania, can i drive the car in germany without paying inurance as second driver?

3. Do i need to register car in germany again?

Best Regards
bob

Re: car Insurace in germany

In germany, one should put in the name of the second driver in the insurance policy.
However, a lot of people just drive car from other car (eg. grandchild drives a car that is registered under his grandpa name to save expensive insurance rate).

If accident happened, the insurance trouble will be counted to the car owner. He or she will have a black list under her name and will have to pay more expensive insurance rate for the next year.
