Can anyone tell me, what to do to get unemployment benefit. Any reference websites or articles will be very helpful.

Go to AA, get the forms, fill them, submit the requested papers, you will receive an appointment day, on the day, go talk to them, and you should be receiving your money from the end of the month you will apply. Nothing more, nothing less. But check if you're eligible first and what your visa states.

you have NE, that's the first point, now it depends how long you've been working here. If it is at least 6 months, then you're eligible.

Didnt you receive any formal notice(Kündigung) for the termination of your contract ? (or your expired contract which wasnt renewed is also like a formal notice of termination)
Just take them with you to Arbeitsamt, surely it wouldnt hurt to have couple of more papers with you which clarify your situation. You can present them, in case you are asked to do so.
"How does it work?"
You stand up from your couch, start to walk.. keep walking till you reach the Arbeitsamt building.. or you can take a taxi/train to reach the Arbeitsamt building(or drive your own car !).. but the choice you make for the transportation does not have any effect on your Arbeitslosengeld.. dont worry about it.. when you see the building then just enter in it.. Ehmm.. sorry I dont have time to write down all the details.. you will have to improvise the rest..

Why do u think that someone having NE must know how to register for unemployment benefits? I think majority of NE holders havent been unemployed at all, so how will one know details of registeration at Arbeitsamt in that case ? Infact having no NE could mean: good understanding about unemployment process at Arbeitsagentur and vice verca.

I think majority of NE holders havent been unemployed at all, so how will one know details of registeration at Arbeitsamt in that case?
It is that simple to ask at arbeitsamt. One should be aware of this basic thing especially when you are surrounded by so many green carders and colleagues.
Infact having no NE could mean: good understanding about unemployment process at Arbeitsagentur and vice verca.
I don't understand, why do you need so much understanding about registration.
