Visa problems

Hi,
I have a work Permit visa in Germany till Feb 2009 which is of category - AUFENTHALTSERLAUBNIS
§18 Abs. 2,1.
I need a clarification: -
I have received an offer from another company in Germany with a work contract. They have agreed to process my work permit which I guess ight take 2-3 months. I plan to resign from my current company once the new work permit comes. However i got one information today that if I resign and happen to go back to india to serve my notice period, then my existing visa will get deleted immediately and even though visa expires by feb 2009, I will still be unable to enter into germany. In that case though the new company will have my new work permit, still i would be unable to enter into germany. How do I handle such a situation. Please help me
