Niederlassungserlaubnis - Daueraufenthalt EG. Anyone got this yet?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has got the NE with the addendum "Daueraufenthalt EG". I am going there in 2 months and planning on asking for it. I was wondering if there is a precedence already.

EU Directive 2003/109/EC does not have precedence over the national laws. The said country must apply the Directive by law.

No, your info is not enough. Any person having NE has the right to take advantage of 2003/109/EC.
I have never seen a German law/regulation which addresses that GC 2003/109/EC is valid for GC only. We need written proof, no gossip.

The law is still in German Parlement and should be discussed and become law till June/July period. In the meantime, German internal affairs minisrty took a wise step and sent a request to ABHs to give already the "Daueraufenthalt EG", as if they refuse to give it, one can take the case to an EU Court, where Germany will be forced to give it anyway. So Germany wants to avoid the headaches till the law becomes reality and just stamp "Daueraufenthalt EG" on passports without actually having a law that is properly supporting it but the law is just a question of time and it will take effect soon or later..
This "Daueraufenthalt EG" does not have any connection with GC-Status. Everyone can get it, if the conditions for that are fullfilled.

Hi all
I will apply for my NE in 2 weeks. Should I tell the Ausländerbehörde that I request the "Daueraufenthalt EG". Does this do me something good or I just add some troubles to the process of my NE.
Any comments are highly appriciated..

I am also a NE holder.
I called to the Berlin ABH to enquire regarding this extension "Daueraufenthalt EG".
But sadly I recieved the answer that this is only for EU citizens.
Do have some updated info xenon123 ?

Did any one of NE holders tried to know about this?, any more other sucess stories?.

The Berlin ABH is bullshitting. Yes, this is bullshit to tha max. It is absolutely you right to have this permit. And u dont have to be EU citizen.
It took me no more than 4 weeks to obtain "Daueraufenthalt EG", after getting my NE in Dec 2005. And it only took this long bse the dudes where not conversant with this law and needed time to check to make sure alles in Ordnung war und ist.
I usually have a healthy dislike for small towns (villages if u like) in germany. But this time am proud of that small Dorf that granted me this "Daueraufenthalt EG". I am now working in brussels at the european commission, for a luxembourg co. Now, you can see why I gotta luv my former german Dorf to death.
But am absolutely disappointed when I read about the hustling you guys have to leisten when attempting to get this class of permit. And then you end up not getting the thang, bse of some ignorant Angestellter. Verdammt!!! nochmals

it is a little bit unclear from your post, where did you get the Daueraufenthalt NE? In Berlin, small town in DE or in Brusels?
