Freelance Vs Self-employed - How to get a Tax Number?

Hi there.

I'm just looking at how I can bill a firm for my work at the moment.

My Visa status is "Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet" and I'm a non-EU (NZ).

I figure I'm not going to be earning over 17500 euro this financial year either.

I'm told that I can freelance, but not set up my own business. Here on Trust7, it seems self-employed and freelance are one in the same thing.. so I'm a little confused with that.

Anyhow, with my above situation, does anyone know the steps I now need to take to get myself a Tax number (assuming I need one)..?

Does this warrant getting a Tax consultant..?

Thanks all in advance..!
Jim

Go register yourself to the Finanzamt of your town and you'll get one.
