open bank account for Ltd. in Germany

Dear experts,

Do we need to open a branch office in Germany to open a bank account with a German bank for our UK Limited or is this not necessary?

Thanks

In my view YES.

The banker Deutsche Bank told me once in 2007 that they need the local German adress for a bank account.

Not sure my case was because i was from India.

Re: open bank account for Ltd. in Germany

Hi,

you will surely need a branch and not only a branch, it must be an independent one with the registration at the German Companies House, the 'Handelsregister'. Which means you have to dive deeply into the German Tax system, which will cost you money for advisers even if you do not make profit here.

If you find a way without a branch, please let me know

Good luck
